Cupping

At both Spot Spas locations, our Acupuncturists provide many Cupping services tailored to your needs:

Acupuncture + Cupping or Gua Sha Treatment

Acupuncture promotes the balance of Qi (energy) and Blood, deficiency and excess, and yin and yang in the body. Cupping is the use of a vacuum in a glass cups. It is frequently used for muscle and joint tension, pain, detoxification, inflammation, sluggish digestion, and menstrual cramps. Gua Sha is a scraping technique that creates a red flush on the skin. Gua Sha is used for similar conditions as cupping but is more heat clearing and can help break up fascia adhesions, such as for IT band syndrome.

Facial Cupping Treatment

Facial cupping is a relaxing treatment that improves facial circulation for glowing firmer skin and decreased puffiness. Facial cupping may also help relieve jaw tension, sinus congestion, tension headaches, soften scars, and assist lymphatic drainage. Serum and facial oil are applied to allow the cups to glide over the skin along lymphatic drainage pathways. The appointment ends with facial and scalp acupressure and the cooling jade roller. Because the specialized facial cups are always in motion and have a lighter suction, cupping marks are not common. If you have very thin or very sensitive skin, you may experience a temporary redness that will fade within a few days. If you have any concerns or questions about this, please contact us!
